Job Description

The purpose of this job is to perform critical legal functions within PFJ Energy.  The role will provide the PFJ Energy leadership, Latin America, trading, compliance, commercial, credit, operations, and KYC teams with effective advice on key legal and regulatory activities. 

  • Serves as legal advisor on trading and energy transactions, including drafting and negotiating complex commercial deals, waterborne agreements, tenders, and international consulting agreements. 
  • Serves as legal advisor on trading and energy transactions, including drafting and negotiating complex commercial deals, waterborne agreements, tenders, and international consulting agreements. 
  • Serves as key legal advisor on all licensing and registation for new Latin America business 
  • Participates in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs, and provides continuing counsel and guidance on implications of all legal matters
  • Provides legal support to the PFJE contracts team, including review and sign-off of various contacts and  trade confirms drafted by the PFJE contracts team
  •   Identify and Escalate Potential Risk and Communicate Risk Mitigates 
  • Serves as key legal backup to Associate Genral Counsel, PFJ Energy
  • Coordinates efforts with outside counsel, as necessary 
  •  Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  •   Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate is required; other degrees, certifications and prior years of experience are more job-specific.
  • Law degree with admission to Texas bar
  • 5 to 7 years of applicable law practice experience 
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in the energy/trading space. International and waterborne experience
