Are you a curious and driven Computer Science student with a passion for programming in a corporate environment? Pilot Company is seeking an Application Development Intern to join our team in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the summer of 2026. This is a unique opportunity to directly support our efforts to improve operational efficiency and accelerate project delivery by assisting with backlog items, documentation, and support tickets.
In this role, you will be an integral part of our development team. Your work will reduce the workload across all levels of the team, allowing more experienced developers to focus on high-priority projects. This will not only increase our overall delivery capacity but will also provide you with valuable experience and a fresh perspective that can spark new ideas for process and system improvements.
What You’ll Do
Your responsibilities may include:
- Improve Operational Efficiency: Assist with backlog items, documentation, and support tickets to help improve operational efficiency and accelerate project delivery.
- Apply Programming Skills: Learn and utilize your programming skills in real-world scenarios to solve business problems and deliver tangible results.
- Enhance Team Capacity: Your contributions will improve team capacity by allowing more experienced developers to stay focused on high-priority work, leading to faster turnaround times and improved support responsiveness.
- Provide Fresh Perspective: Bring a fresh perspective to the team that may help identify pain points and streamline future processes.
- Education: A student pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a focus on programming.
- Technical Skills: Experience with C# is a hard requirement. Experience with .NET and GitHub is a plus. A basic level of knowledge of SQL is also desired.
- Soft Skills: A willingness to learn, be driven, and be curious. You should be excited about development in a corporate environment, have strong problem-solving skills, and be comfortable working alone or in different sized groups. You should also be comfortable working within a team.
- Experience: Any extra-curricular activities or collaborative project work is a plus.

This is a full-time, in-person internship, running from June 1 – August 6, 2026. You’ll be working alongside our team on the main campus in Knoxville, where you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and experience the full scope of life at Pilot Company.
