Job Description

The purpose of this role is to independently manage book positions, verify PnL, conduct market research, and to assist traders in trade execution and other functions in Pilot Flying J’s (PFJ) energy business.

What you will do in this role

  1. Track and manage diesel and gas trading desks’ book positions, PnL
  2. Verify and validate RVO positions and PnL, work with compliance and scheduling to ensure timely retirement of RVO instruments across internal and external systems
  3. Manage working capital cost calculations for the assigned trader
  4. Manager rack level volumes and allocations and contract pricing for internal and external customers
  5. Ensure physical positions are hedged properly for assigned traders’ books
  6. Prepare Trade at Settlement (TAS) execution for all Pilot entities on a daily basis
  7. Assist traders in execution of trades in the market
  8. Perform market research and analysis related to energy, oil and gas
  9. Track vessel imports and exports into the US from various markets
  10. Manage and post Exchange of Futures for Physical Contracts (EFPs) for Pilot, Saratoga and Tartan.
  11. Daily communication with PFJ’s Futures Clearer on matters related to EFPs
  12. Responsible for position management of subaccounts for assigned traders
  13. Publish and distribute end of day positions and PnL estimates for assigned traders
  14. Provide ad hoc research and analysis per trading team’s request
  15. Monitor and report company-wide expiry limits at end of each calendar month
  16. Track and manage cross exchange switch opportunities
  17. Assist Mid Office team in issues related to PnL and positions
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field required
  • MBA preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum six years’ energy trading experience preferred
  • Knowledge of physical and financial energy commodity trading
  • Comprehension of hedging requirements and needs for trading desks in various US markets
  • Understanding of cash and futures markets
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across the deal life cycle of trades
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
