The purpose of this job is to supervise the daily transportation operations while ensuring that Pilot Company drivers comply with all federal, state, local and company policies and procedures.
***This position will require the candidate to live and work out of Central/Northern California***
In this role you will:
- Serve as the point of contact for communication with all Clean Drivers and field managers in a defined operational area for day-to-day issues (e.g., safety and customer concerns); maintain ongoing communication with team members at the Sales and Support Center (e.g., Logistics)
- Partner with the Region Transportation Manager to interview applicants, provide operational training including regular driver observations, and deliver appropriate progressive discipline up to and including termination
- Perform equipment inspections of truck and trailer; report any mechanical issues to appropriate personnel
- Perform site visits for new customer locations and develop appropriate route plan for each location
- Conduct quarterly safety training for drivers in collaboration with the Safety team
- Accurately maintain electronic daily driver logs and all necessary delivery tickets, bills of lading and other entries in the electronic data capture system for each load
- Load, transport, and unload refined oil products at terminals, refineries and retail locations, both PFJ and customer-owned
Pay: $76,000 - $100,000
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate preferred
- Minimum two years' prior experience driver a combination vehicle required required
- Hold and maintain a current Class A Commercial Drivers' License (CDL) with hazmat and tanker endorsements required; doubles where required by operation
- Maximum of two moving violations in the previous three-year period
- Qualify for and maintain a DOT medical examination certificate
- Knowledge of federal regulations: Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), OSHA, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
- Ability to communicate effectively with Team Members and customers
- Strong written and verbal communication and listening skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues as pertain to refined fuel transport and delivery
- Ability to follow directives and work independently
- Ability to maintain a strong customer service focus
**Travel required is around 50%**
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Able to walk, reach, bend, push, pull and lift up to 75 pounds
- Able to safely work and/or drive in all types of weather conditions
- Able to safely install tire chains when needed due to weather conditions
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Work around fuel loading and unloading areas, trucks, and trailers
- Exposure to various weather conditions and temperatures
- Periodic exposure to refined oil products
