Job Description

The purpose of this job is to transport crude oil products safely between terminals and facilities, while complying with all federal, state, local, and company policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

  1. Serve as the point of contact for all Oil Field Services Drivers in the operational area for day-to-day issues
  2. Provide operational training for new and existing Oil Field Services Drivers
  3. Serve as a point of contact for Oil Field Services team members and other field managers
  4. Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer; report any mechanical issues to appropriate personnel
  5. Accurately maintain electronic daily driver logs and all necessary delivery tickets, bills of lading and entries into the electronic data capture system for each load
  6. Load, transport, and unload oil field products at terminals, refineries and customers’ lact units in compliance with company and terminal policies and guidelines for transporting hazardous materials
  7. Communicate with dispatchers and field management on customer issues or safety concerns
  8. Maintain and promote professional relationships with all team members, terminal employees, customers, and producers
  9. Able to safely clean up a oil field product spill or notify the correct personnel to remediate the safety issue
  10. Maintain cleanliness of truck and trailer
  11. Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
  12. Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  13. Complete other duties as assigned
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate preferred
  • Minimum two years’ prior experience driving a combination vehicle required
  • Hold and maintain a current Class A Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) with hazmat and tanker endorsements required; doubles where required by operation
  • Maximum of two moving violations in the previous three year period
  • Qualify for and maintain a DOT medical examination certificate required

Specialized Knowledge

  • Knowledge of federal regulations: Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), OSHA, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)


  • Ability to communicate effectively with Team Members and customers
  • Strong written and verbal communication and listening skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues as pertain to crude oil transport and delivery
  • Ability to follow directives and work independently
  • Ability to maintain a strong customer service focus

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Able to walk, reach, bend, push, pull, and lift up to 75 pounds
  • Able to safely work and/or drive in all types of weather conditions
  • Able to safely install tire chains when needed due to weather conditions
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Work around crude loading and unloading areas, trucks, trailers, and crude oil hauling equipment
  • Exposure to various weather conditions and temperatures
  • Periodic exposure to diesel and crude oil products
  • Periodic exposure to hydrogen sulfide gas
