Job Description

The purpose of this job is to oversee all Fleet Maintenance operations of the company’s Transportation fleet to ensure cost effectiveness, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

· Oversee, lead and set priorities for the Fleet Maintenance team

· Select, coach, train, and develop direct reports to include appraising job performance and conducting performance reviews

· Oversee fleet maintenance operations to ensure compliance with procedures and budgeted financial goals

· Implement and monitor a preventive maintenance program; schedule equipment maintenance aligned with manufacturers’ specifications and company specific requirements

· Ensure the company remains compliant with federal regulations for testing and inspection of equipment per DOT standards

· Develop a program for new and replacement tires; maintain a tracking system for purchases and tire casings

· Analyze financial and business data to identify opportunities to improve profitability; determine priorities that adhere to the budget

· Oversee fleet maintenance warranty process and assist with resolving escalated issues; analyze the company’s warranty programs to ensure receipt of expected value

· Communicate with field operations team members to provide support, respond to inquiries, and provide ongoing coaching to ensure new programs are implemented

· Conduct field visits with Regional Transportation Managers, Lead Drivers, and Drivers to maintain relationships and assess Fleet Maintenance team customer service performance; visit new and existing vendors

· Collaborate with the Transportation Equipment, Purchasing, Operations, and Fleet Sales teams to make recommendations for truck purchases based upon data available to ensure lowest total cost of company ownership

· Conduct research for new initiatives and products that will enhance efficiency and lower costs for operating the company fleet

· Present current status of Fleet Maintenance costs and initiatives to the company’s senior leadership team at monthly meetings and more frequently as requested

· Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level

· Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

· Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, logistics or related field required

· Minimum five years’ experience supervising direct reports

· Minimum five years’ experience in transportation maintenance preferred

· Minimum five years’ experience as a service manager preferred

· Current CDL with hazmat endorsement preferred

· Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

· Experience reviewing and analyzing accounting and profit and loss statements

· Experience working with Department of Transportation (DOT) cargo tank regulations and Compliance, Safety and Accountability (CSA) reporting

· Excellent organizational and follow-up skills

· Strong attention to detail

· Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills

· Ability to lead and motivate a team

· Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment

· Analytical thinking and problem solving skills

· Ability to present information to various management levels of the organization
