Job Description

Lead Midstream departmental environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance and ensure operational safety and regulatory compliance.

  1. Develop and implement plans, procedures, and training in line with EHS programs for all applicable Midstream assets in accordance with Industry and Company Standards and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  2. Instill and maintain a continuous focus and improvement culture relative to EHS practices/SOPs and safe operations.
  3. Modify, update, and execute established programs to achieve and maintain a state of EHS regulatory compliance.
  4. Lead Midstream EHS initiatives, including running regular EHS meetings and tracking progress on EHS initiatives across facilities.
  5. Participate and lead as a key member of EHS cross-functional teams to provide regulatory interpretation of environmental, occupational, and hazardous materials requirements.
  6. Ensure strict adherence to safe work practices, programs and permits for all employees, contractors and site visitors.
  7. Audit contractors, facilities, and operations relative to EHS requirements.  Track and delegate, addressing audit non-conformance results.
  8. Provide technical assistance to project groups regarding risk assessment, plan preparation, and EHS program execution.
  9. Develop and maintain systems for tracking projects and continuous improvement activities.
  10. Coordinate and participate in emergency response drills, including drills involving contractors and emergency services personnel.
  11. Participate in emergency response when incidents arise and coordinate and lead the investigation and resolution of safety related incidents. Report findings to senior leadership.
  12. Coordinate with onsite facility/operations management to create EHS goals and align them to company goals.
  13. Support other Midstream EHS members and tasks associated with EHS disciplines.
  14. Work with supervisors to ensure periodic review of permit activities including Job Safety Analysis ("JSAs"), Lock-Out-Tag-Out ("LOTO"), Confined Space, and Hot Work.
  15. Lead/participate in site hazard assessments and ensure updates are made pursuant to required frequency.
  16. Implement and coordinate updates for facility response and environmental compliance plans, including but not limited to SPCC, FRP/ERAP, EAP, SWPPP, etc.
  17. Focus on EHS compliance at products terminals, rail terminals, transload operations, and DEF dilution and bottling facilities.
  18. Collaborate with other existing EHS roles to establish Midstream standards.
  19. Model behaviors that support the company's common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level.
  20. Ensure all activities follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  21. Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • BS or BA in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related discipline or equivalent, relevant experience.
  • BCSP (Board Certified Safety Professional) preferred
  • 10 years of working in an EHS-focused role
  • 10 years petroleum industry preferred
  • Experience in developing/managing EHS programs, including PSM
  • Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene in industrial environments
  • Integrated Contingency Planning
  • Familiarity with Process Hazard Analysis ("PHA")
  • Project management experience strongly desired
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to lead, build, and motivate others
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
