Job Description

The purpose of this job is to 1) manage the Retail Technology, Payments, and
Loyalty teams, 2) manage the associated resources and coordination of
internal and external retail technology related activities for Pilot Flying J, 3)
serve as a subject matter expert on all retail transactions.

Essential Functions
1. Oversee, lead, and set priorities for a team of Technical Support Analysts
and Engineers
2. Select, coach, train, and develop direct reports, to include appraising job
performance and conducting performance reviews
3. Manage software development lifecycle for payments and retail
technology applications
4. Manage vendor relationships and priorities on software development
and delivery including contracts, budgets, and invoicing
5. Oversee the creation and installation of the monthly OS (Windows)
payment card industry (PCI) update to all store systems
6. Oversee image creation and maintenance for all store level systems on
both the vendor and retail networks
7. Serve as subject matter expert in Pilot Flying J strategic business and
technology planning activities for payments and retail technology
application initiatives
8. Provide vendor direction in addressing issues, releases, and systems
9. Provide leadership and oversee the coordination of projects and
processes across multiple retail platforms
10. Support and manage relationships with Sales and Support Center (SSC)
support teams or business departments involved with all retail
technology platforms
11. Manage escalated issues to include resolution and deployment of
resolution(s) to all stores
12. Undertake continuous development of professional expertise, industry
awareness and promotion of Pilot Flying J through relationships and
participation with industry associations, vendor events, and peer
13. Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies,
and procedures
14. Complete other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and education preferably
related to computer science and technology required
Ten plus years’ experience with POS systems and second level support in
identifying and troubleshooting system issues preferred
Pilot Flying J specific knowledge and experience with retail systems and
concepts including POS, payments, and loyalty
Pilot Flying J retail or convenience and petroleum retail /travel center
industry experience preferred

Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows including Microsoft Office
(Outlook, Excel, Word, etc) required
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Express and ability to script
SQL queries required
Working knowledge of retail store software systems required
Working knowledge of coding languages .net, VB, etc. required

Ability to execute critical judgement and decisions through strong
analytical thinking tied to situations and projects, including the ability to
synthesize and communicate complex information from multiple sources
to quickly identify and resolve issues
Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams, customers, vendors
(written and verbal) and the ability to grow or foster those skills in team
Ability to take ownership of various projects and problems, set and meet
deadlines, and prioritize tasks in order of importance and impact to the

Ability to look forward strategically at new options in response to
store/customer issues and needs in support of Pilot Flying J’s
competitive advantage
Excellent organizational, troubleshooting, analytical, and diagnostic skills
in order to quickly identify and resolve system issues
Work well under pressure and maintain a high level of customer service
Apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine
appropriate outcome
Ability to manage people and, identify and execute team expectations

Travel Travel required less than 20%

Ability to lift and move POS and other hardware as necessary
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Ability to work flexible hours in system critical situations
Ability to provide on call support after hours and weekends
