Job Description


The purpose of this job is to increase the focus and opportunities for purchasing rack fuel supply in the largest volume markets, and to determine the most effective sources for purchasing.


1.Provide market intelligence and strategy recommendations to regional supply directors and provide data that will help forecast when to ship, buy up lines or buy rack

2.Continuously monitor liquidity of rack suppliers to establish value thresholds and identify inter-day strategies to improve enterprise value

3.Adjust rack maximums to ensure that data is current and reflects market activity

4.Interact on a daily basis with local rack marketers in the 30 largest rack markets to develop and maintain commercial relationships

5.Negotiate short-term contracts with fuel suppliers

6.Ensure that discounted rack values are being lifted when available by referencing daily reports

7.Analyze daily buying plan execution and lead S&D’s collaborative market and store review to assess buying opportunities

8.Collaborate with Supply and Logistics teams to identify opportunities to add value per market conditions; address short and mid-term capacity issues, plan future loads based on current market situations and make recommendations on truck/driver needs and floater fleet placement

9.Develop daily supply strategy for handoff from the AM optimization team to the PM optimization team

10.Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level

11.Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

12.Complete other duties as assigned


  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred, or equivalent relevant industry experience required
  • Minimum two years’ experience in rack market optimization required; five years’ experience preferred


  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of fuel and energy markets required
  • Understanding of the energy industry and infrastructure as well as commodity economics preferred
