Our care and commitment to our team members comes from a deeply rooted history that started 65 years ago. Pilot Company was founded by a Korean War veteran and is proud to be an American built company.

Since our first store opening in Gate City, VA, we have celebrated many accomplishments and expansions in the energy and experience space to continue fueling people’s journeys. We are proud to be family-founded and a part of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies all while continuing to innovate and change the way people travel.

Fueling People’s Journeys

Thanks to our loyal guests and team members, Pilot Company is the largest operator of travel centers in North America with over 870 Pilot, Flying J and One9 locations in 44 states and six Canadian provinces. Headquartered in East Tennessee, we operate the third largest fuel tanker fleet in North America and supply approximately 14 billion gallons of fuel per year.

We are committed to shaping the future of energy as the largest provider of biodiesel and renewable fuels and through the development of a coast-to-coast EV charging network and low carbon fueling alternatives.

In 2022, we launched the Veterans of Pilot Business Resource Group (BRG) to bring veterans and non-veterans together to address some of the issues facing service members as they enter the workforce and build a community of support for team members and their families who have served or are currently serving.

Through the Veterans of Pilot BRG, we foster a welcoming and supportive environment for veterans and their families through community engagement, celebration, honoring and bringing veteran related opportunities into the conversation.
